The following are a list of the movies I have found to be powerful in team development. You may some of your own and by all means feel free to share with us your thoughts and how you used the movie. Many can be used for Leadership Development as well. This list is in no particular order.And here I was with my very first project. A course for an online MBA class and the subject was strategic marketing. Ah! I am familiar with this subject, I thought to myself. Secretly, from the back door or my subconscious mind, anxiety had begun to creep in. I was hearing unfamiliar jargon and some wired acronyms - project lifecycle, mpp, SME, and many others that are now a part of my regular life so wouldn't remember. As I started my way into the project lifecycle, I enjoyed being creative, being the representative of the target audience, and advised the SME on how to make the content more learner centric, without really being formally aware of theory and the principles of Instructional Design.Invest in your Leadership Development. Books, podcasts and teaching videos cost a lot. But consider them as an investment, in which you will reap the benefits of greater effectiveness and efficiency in your leadership. And when you become a better leader, you can certainly lead people to greater heights and better performance. Doesn't that deserve a salary raise?Clean the kitchen. In my company, everybody takes a turn at kitchen duty. In my household, everybody is expected to clean up their own messes and pitch in at meals. As CEO, you have to set the example - then demand that everyone follow it. You're responsible for your gains and your mistakes. Responsible people gain respect, so clean up your own messes and be responsible.A wise man once said. "Investors don't like you, or your company. They don't care about your products. They just need to know how they are going to make money-or they'll get fired if they don't." And that wise man is Jimmy Treybig, partner at a venture capital firm New Enterprise Associates.Training should be designed so that you can enter the training process when it suits you, the trainee. Well designed and constructed training meets trainee needs. Trainees should be able to join and leave the training as it suits their needs, not locked into a process that puts the needs of the training provider as first priority.Charge by task or fixed-rate. Another mistake many clients training network make is to charge by the hour, and customers lose track and lose confidence as things change. A fixed rate will make sure there is no surprise at the end, and you will stand out in the crowd.Let's take an example from my own domain. I work as an Instructional Design. My organization has induction programs for new joiners who have no prior ID experience. This program introduces them to the basics of ID- theories, the processes that we follow, basically all the "how tos" about the stuff that we do. We also have regular training that looks at our weak spots and hones the skills that we already have. So these are all formal learning methods. However, if we had left it to the individual to learn about, say, how to write a storyboard, till the time they were actually beginning a project, the project would be at risk.The amount that it costs you to get a hair extension will be determined by the amount of hair you have put in place. The length of your current style and the length that you wish it to be extended are the first things to consider when talking price with your beauty clients training network. The second choice will be human versus synthetic material. Then the method of placement will come into consideration. Each method has its own set of complications and they take different lengths of time to perform. The hair specialist will charge you for the amount of time it takes her to install the length that you desire.The people that change things and make things happen, or that inspire others to move forward rarely do so because they mandate that their ideas or status to the people they connect with. They inspire and spark transformation through their passion for their company, idea, product, project, etc…That's because passion is contagious. Having a well positioned brand opens the door to a place of influence and impact. If you can't get genuinely excited about what you are doing, how do can you expect to have lasting impact and meaningful influence with people and in situations.Continually improve your education and skills. The world doesn't stand still, and neither can you. The only way to stay ahead in this fast-paced era is to learn something new every day. Research what you don't know. Hire other clients training network to fill in the gaps in your expertise until you either have time to learn it. If you try to learn it all, you won't have time to do anything else. Hire specialists, consultants and sharp employees.4) Give the economy a chance to turn around - Things aren't going to get better immediately, so in the meantime, stop worrying about finding a new job. Stick with the one you have (no matter how bad it may be) and have your continuing education be your saving grace while you zone out during your next staff meeting. If you're not currently working, this could be a great time to focus entirely on school and potentially land an internship that can lead to a full-time offer before you graduate.
